Business is one of the most diverse subject areas with many students going on to have successful careers in Management, Retail, Accountancy, and Sales and Marketing. In larger organisations, it’s not uncommon to start as an apprentice or trainee and work your way up. Students who go on to University or Higher Level Study could start out on Graduate Training Programmes to get an all-round experience of a company.

We go on lots of trips and have the opportunity to go out on work placement, this has been really valuable to me in developing new skills and learning about industry in our area

You'll explore the basics of marketing, economics and finance, as well more specialist areas like business law and management reporting. BTEC Higher Nationals are designed to provide a specialist vocational programme, linked to professional body requirements and National Occupational Standards where appropriate.

This course will develop your skills in communication, presentation, numeracy, team working, organisation and meeting deadlines. The team of tutors are specialists in their area and have industry experience. They organise a variety of trips for students, for example, a trip to London to visit the Bank of England, Houses of Parliament and The Supreme Court. Throughout the year there are guest speakers, workshops and in house competitions.
