Why did you choose this course?
I decided I wanted to go to university after A Levels to study Art. The Art and Design Foundation course offered a really good and sought after (by university’s) stepping stone from A Levels into university.
Why did you choose Kendal College?
Kendal College has really good facilities and an excellent reputation locally for Art and Design courses.
Is College like you had expected. If not, why?
The tutors push you and try to develop you far more than I expected, they really encourage you to expand and improve your portfolio and unlock your creativity.
What do you most enjoy about College life?
I’ve met a lot of new people on the course and we are now quite a close knit-group which is really good. Being able to study art and develop my skills is obviously also great.
What opportunities have you had as a student at the College?
I’ve been able to progress onto university which I don’t think would have been possible after A Levels. The college's awarding body, University Arts London, is held in high esteem by many universities.
What is the teaching style like on your course?
There’s plenty of one-on-one contact with tutors as the group sizes are small, they spend a lot of time with students individually to help you improve and develop. The tutors are really approachable and it’s easy to ask for help and often they’ll stay behind after class to support you.
Can you describe a typical day at College?
We spend a lot of time working on our portfolios individually but tutors always make time to catch-up with what we are doing and help us with our work.
How would you describe your College experience so far?
The overall college experience has been really good. My tutors have been really supportive of me in developing my skills and portfolio.
What are you hoping to do after College?
After college I would like to go to University and study Art. I have already had offers from a number of really prestigious universities in London.
If you could give one piece of advice to people considering College, what would it be?
I don’t think many people consider college as an option, it may seem like a big risk but it’s really important to just go for it even if it means going out of your comfort zone.
